William’s biggest dream is to represent Canada internationally, especially at the World Poomsae Championships as an individual competitor. This year, he was able to win his individual event in the Junior Male Recognized division and once again, compete on the world stage. Below, he shares his experiences after his competition at 2020 Nationals. “This year’s nationals proved to be one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a taekwondo athlete. In all my years of competing, I’ve found myself on both ends of victory and defeat. In the past, I was plagued by the fear of failure, disappointing those who trust in me and most importantly disappointing myself. However, this year, I found myself focused and determined to prove that my hard work, practice, dedication and training would prevail. Round after round, my performance improved as I grew more confident and concentrated. With all my past experiences, good and bad, in mind, I was able to perform to the best of my ability. I am thankful for all my past struggles and my experiences overcoming them because they have come together to define who I am as an athlete. As I embrace both my triumphs and setbacks, I find myself ever so determined to improve and train. “ – William Tam #jeoneuitkd #jeoneuiteam #taekwondo #2020 #nationals #champion #teamcanada #sharing #poomsae #bctaekwondo #taekwondo #yvr #martialarts #vancouver #arbutusridge #跆拳道 #태권도
